It’s no fun leaving your furry friend at home, and that’s why a good travel crate is an essential for any dog owner. A couple of years ago, I got the Backcountry x Petco The Foldable Dog Travel Crate, and honestly I’m not sure how I ever lived without it. It would have been so handy to have on camping trips and vacations, or even a visit to Grandma's.
Today, on National Pet Day, we're suggesting you consider shopping this dog crate deal at Petco for upcoming summer trips. The crate folds down flat and pops back up easily. It is lightweight but sturdy, and it has mesh windows all around for ventilation. But, if your pup prefers a little more privacy, you can close those windows and open the sunroof.

My little guy, an Ihasa apso, often needs a break from his big sister, an energetic German shepherd, and he frequently finds refuge in this crate. I leave it popped up at home and next to my workspace for him, and though he has a number of options as far as soft surfaces to sleep on, the travel crate is his favorite place to be while I am working.

A queen-sized pillow fits perfectly on its floor, so we didn’t have to buy an expensive foam insert. However, the crate floor is lightly padded as is, so you may not need to add any extra cushion at all—we did since our Ihasa apso is elderly. The fabric is sturdy, and it claims to be water-, stain- and tear-resistant, though we used it gently, so I can’t personally speak to those claims.

This crate comes in two sizes. The small/medium fits my lhasa apso perfectly (he's a little larger than a shih tzu). The large version can handle pups up to 33.5 inches long, 19.7 inches tall, and 132 pounds. The large crate would be a little more work to carry around, but it is still infinitely easier than a bulky plastic or metal crate.
In short, if you like to travel with your dog and could use a good portable carrier, this is the one.
